Objective(s): To obtain detailed information on local and medium scale climate on a year-round basis, along with information on vegetation and ice cover, in order to improve mapping and modeling of regional climate and to study climate impacts.

Project Description: Automatic climate stations have been operating at sites on Baffin Island since 1985. Data are collected from these instruments during annual visits to the NWT. At the same time, standard observations are made of other environmental conditions in the vicinity of these stations. During 1994, visits to Amadjuak Lake, the northwest part of the Barnes Ice Cap and the top of the Penny Ice Cap will be made.
