Objective(s): To interview residents to determine the social and economic conditions in Port Harrison and Pond Inlet in the early 1950's; to determine difficulties people encountered during and after relocation to Resolute Bay and Grise Fiord; and to understand the motivation behind the federal government's decision to establish the new settlements

Project Description: Mr. Lowther will be interviewing residents of both communities to see what people remember of their original homes in Port Harrison and Pond Inlet before the government moved them to Resolute Bay and Grise Fiord. He is also interested in the difficulties people had during and after their move. This should help him understand why the federal government made the decision to establish the new settlements in 1953.
